grdcontour : How to use cpt file for annotations?

Added by Alexander 8 months ago

There is a way to colorize annotations in coordination with colors of lines?

Thanks

This is possible with the

-W[type]pen[+c[l|f]]

option in grdcontour.

I think you want

-Wa+c

Note: Appears that GMT may have problems parsing this option.

If the type is not specified:

-W+c → does not color annotations
-W+cl → "grdcontour [ERROR]: Pen name l not recognized!"
-W+cf → grdcontour [ERROR]: Pen name f not recognized!

-Wc+cf and -Wa+cf → annotations do not get color

Does

-Wc+c/-Wc+cf/-Wc+cf
make sense when using a CPT-file? All lines will be annotated in that case. Likewise with
-Wa+c/-Wa+cf/-Wa+cl
when using a CPT-file, but with
-A-
so that no lines are annotated.

Thanks, Andreas
And what is the syntax for version 4?
I use this version because of different rezult of grdcontour

I dont think this is possible in GMT4. According to the grdcontour manpage (http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/gmt4/gmt/html/man/grdcontour.html), -W+ gives contour lines color, but there is not an option to do the same with annotations!
