I tried with a clean build, to no avail. The same command works with an older version of GMT on a linux box:

Yes, it's a bug with the -Z option. You can work-around it with

echo 1307381.0289656217 -1769845.0079199404 | gmt grdtrack -Gzb_mag_sat.nc -o,2
