Would it be possible to add the algorithm used surface to the interpolation options available through the -n option in grdsample (at least from reading the man pages it seems this is not available currently)

The kneejerk reaction is "why not just do grd2xyz your.grd | surface -Ryour.grid -Gnew.grd [-T] ..."? Of course, surface does not deliver a unique interpolation since it never reaches full convergence, whereas the 2-D splines in -n do. Also, surface has many options to trade off between convergence and time (-C -L -N -T -Z) and to allow those via -n would be a very confusing process. So I am leaning towards the initial reaction, which could be added to the grdsample documentation as another way to do things.

I have updated the grdsample documentation to include an external resampling operation via surface or greenspline. In r19921.

Closing this issue. Running surface via -nn would require far too many settings, but doing it separately is now discussed in the documentation.
