Description

When the PostScript contains transparency settings and we want a non-PDF output (e.g., TIF), then psconvert first makes a temporary PDF file (to get the transparency) and then converts the PDF to TIF. Unfortunately, the intermediate PDF filename uses the same namestem as the PS. This means any previously rendered PDF file will be overwritten, then deleted (since it is a temporary file).
Solution is to pick a true temporary filename when making these intermediate PDF files.

Now use an intermediate file name (PSNAME + _intermediate + .pdf) for the rendering to PDF when it is not the final product. In r17248.
